Awning motorisation
A motor turns the winding axle to open and retract the awning. Sizing considers system type, axle diameter, width, arms or tension and projection; compatibility is confirmed after the installation is inspected.

Blind motorisation
An upgrade with a motor inside the winding tube, electrical connection, control device and limit-switch setup. Size, material, weight, tube and the existing manual mechanism are checked before work begins.

Remote and wall control
A remote, wall switch or app sends a command to the motor receiver; a system may control one unit or a group according to its protocol. Receiver, power and technology are checked before any control function is promised.

Wind sensors for awnings
A wind sensor can trigger automatic retraction of a compatible motorised awning when its configured threshold is exceeded. We assess Cherubini sensors to suit the installed motor and receiver. Depending on the model, they detect wind speed or vibration and are set up and tested during installation. They are an aid, not a guarantee against wind damage.

Home integration
A gateway and app can provide scenes, schedules or voice control for compatible motors. For example, TaHoma works with Somfy RTS or Zigbee products; the protocol, gateway and installed model must match.

Cherubini and Somfy: why we value Italian engineering
We often recommend considering Cherubini for its Italian industrial heritage and its solutions for awnings and roller shutters. Beyond country of origin alone, we value design, manufacturing processes, testing and how well a motor suits each installation.
- Integrated design and production. Cherubini describes in-house development teams for electronics, tubular motors and accessories, alongside machining and material-processing departments. This gives us something more specific to assess than a “Made in Italy” label.
- Durability testing and material selection. The company documents a workshop for endurance testing, prototyping and material evaluation. These are manufacturer-reported quality-control processes, not a guarantee of a longer service life.
- Useful model-specific features. Ocean RX includes radio control and manual override for awnings; Open ZRX combines CRC RX and Z-Wave and includes obstacle detection for roller shutters. These are specific examples, not features of every Cherubini motor.
- Installer support. Cherubini publishes technical documentation, tutorials and training. Access to instructions for selecting, programming and adjusting the equipment matters for a properly completed installation.
What about Somfy? It also offers documented motors, controls and automation and may be a suitable choice, particularly when retaining a compatible existing system. These facts come from the manufacturers: they are not an independent comparison test or proof that Cherubini lasts longer than Somfy. The final choice depends on the specific motor, correct sizing and installation.
